Decay
Graceful
Riot
Their love lasted 27 years, four months, and six days. Each moment was a memory, a new experience they both cherished as if it were a newborn child. The simplest funs felt like a riot, the biggest problems never bigger than them; but like all great things, their love has come to an end.
After him she had no other. No one could take his place. And when the children asked she take a chance again on love she said “My heart’s still full of him, there isn’t any space.” All that ever mattered was to ensure no moment in those 27 years would be forgotten.
With time she grew more quiet, more distant in her thoughts. With time it seemed she faded completely into her past. Her relatives would ask her “Are you lonely?” “Can we help?” She would only smile an say “I have loved. I have been loved. I need nothing else.”
On the 27th year, fourth month, and sixth day anniversary of her loves departure from her life she sat by a window overlooking a garden. She sat through the mornings, afternoons, nights, for days, leaving us helplessly watching her graceful decay.

Sometimes what has been… is enough. Lovely story, though tragic at the same time.

For some this is how it ends. A soul-mate love which another can not fill. Such a love is not everyones calling.
Nicely written

A lovely piece… I’ve never been with anyone for 27 years, 4 months, and 6 days, but for a moment while reading I felt I was missing half of my self.

Moving, poignant, and in a way inspiring – to leave a loving impression like that.
